Continuum

Let me be the first to say that art is not my strong suit. I lack many creative genes that so many were blessed with. However, I am a-ok with my abilities to solve complex math equations and remember scientific formulas so I commend those with artistic abilities and I will continue to fake my way through life pretending that I have those abilities too.
This semester (I promise I will quit saying this one day) I am taking a jewelry and metalsmithing class and one of the requirements is to attend at least five art events on campus. I spend most of my time in the exercise science and psychology departments so I rarely get the chance to make my way to the art department. Currently my campus is holding the continuum exhibit which features alumni from the university. I grabbed my best friend (also a psych major) and we headed to the exhibit. We walked around and pretended to examine and discuss the meanings of the pieces. Though we felt out of place, we had a blast and I eventually found one piece that spoke to me.
Two pictures below is a photograph of a jewelers bench featuring tools and pieces. The familiarity of this photograph drew me in and it was definitely the piece that made me happiest.

Overall, I can't say I learned too much by attending this exhibit but I did have a great time stepping outside of my comfort zone and enjoying the company of the artists and my fellow classmates.

Love

As I was cleaning out my previous semester's work that was saved on my computer I came across this piece. It is a portion of a story about a man I remember very well from my previous college. This post was originally intended for a guest post on another blog but I never followed through with getting it posted. Written circa 2013, this post tells a story of love, addiction, and above all else faith. No images, no "fluff", just truth. I hope you enjoy!

~~~
Thirty-eight years ago Mr. Joe married the love of his life. Nineteen years ago Mrs. Joe passed away. Sixteen years ago Mr. Joe went to his first AA meeting.
When I was sitting down for lunch, I overheard bits and pieces on an older man’s conversation with his coworkers. I could not piece together a coherent story but I was intrigued by his words and I knew I wanted to know more. I didn’t want to be rude but something inside of me was just telling me to talk to this man. To listen to his words and hear what he had to say. So I summoned up my courage and did just that.
Mr. Joe told me that he sees his life in numbers. When I asked why, he said it is the easiest way to keep track of his memories. He uses numbers to remember the years important events happened and he uses numbers to count down the days until he is reunited with his wife.
When I asked Joe (as he preferred to be called) about his wife, I saw his face light up. It was then that I knew that this woman meant the world to him. He said, “She meant the world to me, but I never got the chance to show her. I would give anything to have her back right now. To let her get all dressed up. To take her to dinner and the show. To dance all night with her. To walk hand in hand down the street. To show my love for her.”
You see, all of Joe’s life he struggled with addiction. Alcohol. Marijuana. Cocaine. He had done almost every drug on the streets. He fell into a world of addiction and began to shut people out and treat the ones who loved him most terribly. Through this, his wife never ceased to love him. However, Joe did not see this. He did not see how he hurt his wife with his actions and he saw no reason to change his ways. Then one day, she was gone. A fatality on the road stripped Joe of his wife. The regret Joe felt from this accident impacted his life in both bad and wonderful ways. For three years he turned in a direction that lead him towards the dark. After losing his house, his possessions, and most of his family, Joe found himself one day sitting in a shelter. Encouraged to attend meetings and therapy by the shelter, Joe began to see his life in a different way. Through weekly chapel meetings and drug rehabilitation, Joe became sober.
Sixteen years ago Joe turned his life around. Sixteen years ago Joe experienced his last drug induced high. Sixteen years ago Joe found faith and Jesus in a shelter chapel.
When asked what his biggest regret is, Joe states, “not treating her right, not giving her everything she wanted, and not being good enough for her.”
To me this experience really opened up my eyes. I often find myself lost in a world of self-satisfaction. More often than not I worry too much about myself and do not give enough time to others. I could see on Joe’s face how much he enjoyed having someone to talk to and tell his story to. It reminded me that sometimes the best thing I can do for others is give them a piece of my time. You don’t have to do huge acts of kindness to make someone’s day, often it is the little things that mean the most.
(When asked if I could share his story on my blog, Joe agreed stating that he feels that if someone can benefit from his story, he wants it told.)
Kindness and Confetti
*Idakoos.com provided me with the featured shirt for this post. All opinions are my own.
I am not quite sure where, when, or how this particular quote and depiction of this quote originated, but it has always been one to stand out in my mind. I do not always come off as the warmest or most welcoming individual but I do always strive to be kind to everyone I meet. I feel like kindness is one of the best gifts one can give and receive and it's free so it fits pretty well into my budget! So why would we be opposed to throwing kindness around each and every day? Treat kindness like your personal confetti and make someone's day a little better.
Now... When I said this quote stands out in my mind, I mean that it is pretty much my daily mantra. That's where Idakoos comes in! Idakoos is a custom t-shirt and gift website with a catalog of over hundreds of pre-made designs for t-shirts, mugs, sweatshirts, etc. However, if you are like me and have a specific design in mind all you have to do is shoot an email to their design board with what you are looking for in your design, and they will draft up a custom design just for you. How awesome is that? With a speedy turn-around time, no minimum order, and reasonable prices, what's not to love? Also, the quality of the shirt is much better than I expected compared to other companies I have ordered shirts from which is a huge plus for me! I highly suggest you give them a try the next time you are looking for something specific.
Swainsboro Sunsets // Giveaway
* AMI Club Wear provided me with the boots shown below in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
When I was first contacted by AMI Club Wear about reviewing a product and hosting a giveaway on my blog, I was skeptical. First, I don't go clubbing. Second, I don't wear club wear. Third, I don't wear heels. How can I review a company that does not cater to any of my likes? In all honesty I was taking the name of the company at face value and not really looking into what they also sell. After looking through a few pages of party dresses, I noticed they also sell boots. If you read along with Wandering Forevermore, you have noticed my love of boots. I fell in love with many pairs of boots that AMI Club Wear carries, but these khaki ones topped my list. The color is somewhere between a khaki and a gray and I find them perfect for many of my outfits. The studs and buckles make them more unique and slightly edgier which I really like. At first, I was going to pair the boots with a sweater and skinny jeans, but then I felt challenged to make them work with a dress to prove their versatility. All in all, I am very satisfied with these boots and would definitely order from AMI in the future.
Skirts and Scarves
Good Morning ladies! I am so excited today because it is my first day of jewelry and metalsmithing class. As many of you know, I have been creating my own jewelry pieces lately and this class is exactly the step I was wanting to take next. I am beyond ready to learn the basics of working with metal so that I can create many new designs for my etsy shop
Anyway, lately it has been cold and rainy. Therefore I have not been able to take any new images for my blog. This outfit was taken about two weeks ago when the temperatures were reaching the upper 60s. To compliment the skirt and keep the style "winter" I paired a gray short sleeve sweater with a multi-colored scarf and finished the look with simple black flats. Minimal jewelry was worn for this look and I wore this on my three year anniversary date with my boyfriend.
Winter Boots under $150
Winter Boots under $150
Hunter Rain Boots // Sperry Duck Boots // Brown Combat Boots // Tan Combat Boots // Black Knee High Boots // Gray Knee High Boots // Tan Knee High Boots // Brown Knee High Boots // Tan Lace Up Booties
Ahh! Winter is officially here in the South! It is hovering steadily in the 40s and 50s and I am so excited for the cooler weather. One of the reasons I love winter is because of my mild obsession with boots! I have way too many pairs of boots and am constantly purchasing more. Currently I am really wanting these green Sperry duck boots but the Hunter wellies are high on my list too! Realistically I need to get a pair of dressier booties such as these lace up oxford booties but I keep falling in love with the knee high boots I see in the stores. Alas, these boots are all on my wishlist this winter!
What boots are you currently wishing for?
Pearls and Stripes
I must admit, getting back into a routine is hard! I have had intentions of waking up early the past few days, scheduling my blog posts on time, and prepping for my journey back to college. However these intentions have not become actions as I have soaked up the last few days of my winter break. The four weeks off were lovely but I am starting to miss my college town. In honor of that, I have decided to show off my school colors today in this beautiful navy and gold striped sweater dress. I picked up this dress back in August when H&M opened in my city and have been waiting for the perfect weather to wear it. Lately it has been getting cooler (think 50-60s) and I finally got the chance to wear it out on a date with my boyfriend. I paired it with simple navy ballet flats and so classy pearls fro A Southern Memory
When do you wear pearls?
Give Me Donuts
It feels like it has been forever since I have written a blog post! After returning from my week long journey through Mississippi with my boyfriend, I am somewhat settling back into a routine. Saturday, my routine will shift once again as I return to Statesboro for spring semester but that is a story for another day! Anyway, my wonderful boyfriend got me this (super cute) sweatshirt for Christmas and I have worn it way too many times already! It is just pure perfection. I love clothing with cute sayings on them and this sweatshirt spoke to my heart (yes, my heart is set on donuts)! For a fun day, we went to our playground and broke all the rules by swinging and acting like children. I paired the sweatshirt with skinny jeans, my new tan boots (that I am also obsessed with!) and a snail necklace that my boyfriend made for me for Christmas!
